FAQs
OC Kit-A™ (MK-2/MK-3 Fit)
The OC Kit-A™ (MK-2/MK-3 Fit) is designed to work with nearly all MK-2 and MK-3-sized canisters that utilize a thumb-actuated flip-top. All spray patterns are supported.
Tested and confirmed brands include:
ASP
Byrna
CSI/CTS
Defense Technology/Safariland
Fox Labs
Galls
Guardian PD
Mace
Police Magnum
Sabre
Smith & Wesson
Clip Note:
Do not use canisters with built-in belt clips.
About the friction wings (break-in period):
The OC Kit-A™ uses two passive friction wings that apply pressure to the canister. On new units, these wings may feel stiff and the draw may be tighter than expected. This is normal and typically improves with a short break-in period.
Quick break-in tip:
Insert a MK-3 canister and leave it holstered for 24 hours to help the wings relax for a smoother draw.
Sticker note:
Ensure the OC canister’s label/sticker is flat (no lifted edges or ridges), as raised edges can catch during the draw.
If you'd like to confirm compatibility with your agency’s specific brand, size, or spray pattern before purchasing, please contact us through the Agency Procurement form.
Yes. If your inert canister is MK-2 or MK-3-sized, flip-top, and thumb-actuated—and the corresponding live version is on our compatibility list—it will work with the OC Kit-A™.
The only difference is the adapter plate that connects the holster to your gear. The Belt-Mount System uses a Blade-Tech™ Tek-Lok with slight stand-off to accommodate sitting, while the Vest-Mount System uses two 3" Blade-Tech™ MOLLE-Loks with a low-profile fit for direct vest mounting.
Both systems are fully compatible with the Full Retention Holster, allowing you to swap between mounting setups as needed using the same holster body.
A MK-4 fit is currently under development, stay tuned!
The OC Kit-A™ is constructed from high-strength injection-molded polymer—similar to the materials used in high-end duty-grade firearm holsters. It’s built to withstand the rigors of daily law enforcement use.
The OC Kit-A™ features a Level II retention system—combining passive friction retention on the canister body with a single active locking mechanism that must be intentionally disengaged to draw.

No. The OC Kit-A™ does not change the canister’s operation in any way—it preserves the original spray pattern, range, and flow of your OC unit.
Yes. The OC Kit-A™ is fully ambidextrous and designed for true one-handed operation—from mounting configuration to deployment and reholstering.
That decision is at the discretion of your certifying agency or training division. The OC Kit-A™ was purposefully designed not to alter the function, effectiveness, or classification of OC spray within the use-of-force continuum. Please consult your department’s training staff for specific guidance.
